Hit-girl is arguably one of more controversial figures on screen in last couple of years. Yes, she kills people. Yes, she’s just a child. Honestly, the murders don’t bother me one bit. I mean, let’s get real. There are children soldiers fighting civil wars in many states of Africa. Government of El Salvador officially recruited all children over twelve years of age during their twelve years of futile effort to end social movement turned to guerrilla movement called FMLN. Not to mention all the sweatshops and mines that exploit children for profit.
She’s truly amazing character. Possibly one of my favorites of all time. She doesn’t just kill, she’s lightening fast, dodges bullets, incredibly resilient, all the while being fashionable with her purple hair and cute costume. I mean, after all, it’s just a little girl killing in vendetta all the while having a little bit of fun. Really, what’s wrong with that?
Also kudos to the director of Kick-Ass, Matthew Vaughn, and all the producers who worked on this project. Action scenes in this movie was of the highest quality in regards to entertainment. Also, use of music was very good. Warehouse scene with Hit-girl: perfect selection of background music, great camera work, the best moments of Mr. Cage’s career. I’m really looking forward to new X-man movie that he’s directing.
